Meet Mary Abraham, our Featured Educator for April 2021

04.02.2021

Mary Abraham, Regional Educator and International Platform Artist for BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT, is our Featured Educator for April!

How'd you get your start in education?

I've been an educator for seven years. I was using the Brazilian Blowout products and absolutely loved them. I went to their booth at the hair show in New York City and met with their Sales Manager, who ended up interviewing me. From there, I interviewed with their Global Director, and they hired me.

What's your favorite product from BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT?

BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT Original Solution. This product changes lives. It cuts drying time in half and takes 100 percent of the frizz out of hair, so stylists can increase their revenue by offering BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT to all of their clients. Clients absolutely love the results.

After that, I'd have to say Ionic Bonding Spray. It's a great intro product for giving someone a taste of what a BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT treatment feels like. It's a staple for me.

What's the newest, freshest approach you're bringing to education?

A lot of people think BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT is not for everyone, but there's so much you can do with it—you can even use it to keep curls and lose frizz, or get 75 percent of the curl pattern out of the hair. I like to teach stylists the tips and tricks that let them really use the product for the advanced smoothing treatment that it is. It's also 100 percent customizable to any and all of your guests.

What are the common problems faced by stylists today?

Because of quarantine, a lot of stylists are having a hard time building a newer clientele. Hopefully, we'll start to see things return to normal soon, but in the meantime, I think it's important to focus on the clients you have. Try adding services like BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT to boost revenue instead of trying to bring in new clients.

I also feel like many stylists are hesitant to sell add-on services to their clients, but you can't look at it as selling them at an extra cost—you have to think of it as a solution to a problem they have. You will often find that clients appreciate the extra help.

What do you want stylists to know about education?

Education is the key to a successful business, whether you're a stylist or a salon owner.

You can never stop learning. There's always something new coming out in the industry, and it's your job to educate yourself. Don't get stuck in a rut.

If you're looking to become an educator, you can do it. You just have to get out there and do it.

What do you want stylists to know about BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT?

I want stylists to know that BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT is for everyone. Anyone that sits in your chair, no matter the hair type or season, will see healthier hair from a BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT treatment.

Any advice for educators?

I always try to talk stylist to stylist. I'm a salon owner, and I'm behind the chair as well, so I just try to relate and teach them things the tips and tricks I've picked up that hopefully they can take and make money with. You have to remember to stay humble.

What are your educator goals?

I just want to keep helping other stylists. I love helping them to solve their clients' hair problems, generate more revenue, and just build a better business.

Do you have any big plans for Spring? (Personally or Professionally)

I am really hoping to get back out in the field and educate in the in-person environment and attend things like trade shows and in-salon training. I miss that in-person experience. I'm also hoping to take more vacations with my kids.
