Sarah Kralowski, Living Proof Educator, tries to keep information relatable to her students’ everyday lives, and that’s why we’ve selected her as Premier Beauty’s October Educator of the Month!

How’d you get your start in education?

I was really inspired after taking some classes in New York; the education was fantastic. When a position opened up at our salon to be a liaison for Living Proof, I jumped at it.

What’s your favorite product from Living Proof?

What's the newest, freshest approach you're bringing to education?

I work behind the chair every day, so it’s important to me that I keep everything I’m teaching usable and relatable. Learning avant-garde looks and techniques is fun, but not always something you’re going to use. I try to keep everything approachable and relevant.

What are the common problems faced by stylists today?

Social media has made it more difficult to manage client expectations. The images clients see on Pinterest, Instagram, and so forth typically don’t show all the work and time that went into creating the look. Stylists should be prepared to have this conversation and be confident in explaining the process behind the look.

Any advice for educators?

Find a brand you love and can get behind. I am passionate about teaching for Living Proof because I share similar values. I love working for a company that works to empower women and encourages them to get into science- and technology-based fields. I also appreciate that the brand is animal- and cruelty-free.

What are your educator goals?

I want to continue to grow as an educator. If I can inspire someone, or teach them even just one new thing, that’s when I feel like I’ve done my job. I love when I get to see my students have an aha moment, where what they’re learning clicks for them.

What new skill would you like to learn?

I want to improve my barbering skills. Outside of my professional life, I am dying to learn how to crochet!
