Jaimie Herak, Hotheads Educator, has a passion for hair extensions that he loves to share with his students, and that’s why we’ve selected him as Premier Beauty’s September Educator of the Month!

How’d you get your start in education?

The salon I worked at hosted a Brazilian Blowout class, and I assisted the educator in the final blow-dry. This got me curious, and after the educator filled me in on the steps I would need to take to become an educator, I decided to go for it!

What’s your favorite product from Hotheads?

What's the newest, freshest approach you're bringing to education?

I have been obsessed with hair extensions since I was 10 years old, so it’s something I’m very passionate about and have a lot of knowledge on.

Combined with my personality and sense of humor, I think I bring a different vibe to classes that gets stylists excited. My background in extensions also allows me to break things down in an easy-to-understand way.

What are the common problems faced by stylists today?

There are a ton of different brands and techniques on the market. Without proper training, a wide range of products can be overwhelming and challenging for stylists.

Classes, especially for hand-tying, can be expensive and that puts them out of reach for a lot of stylists. Hotheads does a great job of making classes more accessible by keeping their classes affordable, so people have the right tools at their fingertips.

Any advice for educators?

Know your craft: If you don’t truly understand what you’re teaching, you could be doing more harm than good.

What are your educator goals?

I love being a Hotheads Educator, so I would like to continue to learn and grow with the brand. Hotheads is super innovative and they do their best to stay ahead of the game in terms of product quality and customer service, and I love being a part of that.

What new skill would you like to learn?

I want to get better at hand-tied extensions. They are more challenging and have the potential to go wrong in a lot of different ways. I am a perfectionist, so I want to make sure that I’m doing my absolute best work.
