Compare and Contrast: Kevin.Murphy KILLER.CURLS and MOTION.LOTION

By Erin Gignac

New product, new style! Kevin.Murphy does a great job providing us with product information, but where do his products line up in the spectrum of the other Kevin.Murphy products? For this edition of Compare and Contrast, we’re comparing and contrasting the new KILLER.CURLS with MOTION.LOTION—both products that give your curls weightless, natural movement.

The new KILLER.CURLS is a crème, while MOTION.LOTION is a lotion (obviously). However, it’s not in the plastic tubs like the other trademark crèmes, EASY.RIDER and FREE.HOLD. It’s a little more viscous than the other crèmes and a little more stiffer than the lotion.

Here are some more differences between KILLER.CURLS and MOTION.LOTION:

KILLER.CURLS: Medium to coarse, curly or wavy hair

KILLER CURLS: Use on towel-dried or damp hair
MOTION.LOTION: For towel-dried hair but can also be used on dry hair!

KILLER.CURLS: Curl defining creme
MOTION.LOTION: Curl and finishing enhancer

KILLER.CURLS: Defined, shiny curls
MOTION.LOTION: Shiny, soft hair with natural result

KILLER.CURLS: Firm toughness and hold, flexible finish, but weightless low molecular ingredients
MOTION.LOTION: Light hold that absorbs quickly into the hair

Of course, one product is not better than the other (both do an amazing job of defining curl and fighting frizz) but they do have different uses. Going out in the sun? MOTION.LOTION is what you want to use for your curls—it has built-in sunscreen.

KILLER.CURLS is made with 6 Australian Fruit Extracts: Bergamot Fruit Oil, Paraguay Leaf Extract, Watermelon Extract, Aloe Vera Leaf Juice and Baobab Seed Oil. MOTION.LOTION contains: Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Sesame Seed Oil, Bergamot Fruit Oil, Geranium Flower Oil and Patchouli Oil.

For those Kevin.Murphy groupies, we recommend using STAYING.ALIVE as a primer, KILLER.CURLS for prep and POWDER.PUFF for finish. For more information on how to get the Paradise Beach look created by Kevin Murphy (the one featured on our cover for September/October) follow this link!

Comparing the scents, KILLER.CURLS is fruity and fresh where MOTION.LOTION is earthy and sensual. Pick the best one for your hair and if you can’t decide, cocktail and use them both!
